1-for-1 (private โ Medicaid): Smart โ it wins the facility as a one-stop shop while the private case carries the margin (~2ร Medicaid's, and paid day 0 vs ~day 45). Use private to subsidize thin Medicaid.
โ ๏ธ Only when paired: offer the low-margin Medicaid placement only when a paying private comes with it. If the Medicaid mix climbs too high, blended margin sinks โ watch the blend in the 5 numbers above.
All-in private vs. grow Medicaid?
Until QuickBooks is clean, treat Medicaid as volume + relationship + future leverage (prove placement speed โ earn paid Medicaid referrals from Kaiser/Straub), not a margin engine. Scale private; use Medicaid to win the relationship.
